About Me:

My Mom gave me my first record player (an RCA 45-EY-2) when I was 4.  I guess I've been a music junkie ever since.  I can still
remember my poor Grandmother taking me to the thrift store and patiently waiting while I dug thru boxes of  old 78's.  She was a
very modern woman and didn't understand my fascination with "old" stuff.  In my 30's, I wanted a period piece to play my 78's on
and it snowballed after that.  The Philco beam of light phono (above) showed up and my sanity was lost forever.  Shortly after the
Philco, I found an American Bosch 28 in Omaha and dragged it home.  That was way before 9/11.  After that, it wasn't about
collecting them, I also wanted to learn how to fix them myself.  I did a little research and found a shop in town (San Francisco) that
still worked on old radios.  When I walked in, I will never forget the proprietor saying "You'll never get that to work!"  I still love a good
challenge and that Bosch is still playing.
Somebody once said, "Friends are family you pick for yourself."  I would like to dedicate this site to my friend, mentor, and 2nd
dad, John Wentzel.  The proprietor of the original ALADDIN RADIO.
I work on all early american and european tube radios, including german peoples receivers (Volksempfänger).   I will also work
on local jukeboxes from the 40's and 50's.
